Day Twenty-Three Word Counts

It's Day Twenty Three and can you believe it's only one week left? That's right, this is the last week, when things start to come to a close and a lot of us are nearing 50K. For those who are behind, there is still time. This is the week to give it all you got, so make it special!

Are you ready for my pathetic word count? 145 for a total of 71,316! Yes. That's what happens when you spend the day in the bathroom. Also had to go to urgent care to get a doctors note so I could properly call off on a holiday into work last night and tonight.

ALSO had to cancel my birthday trip to Toronto seeing as how I'm still not 100% and my girlfriends aren't too keen on traveling in closer quarters with someone who is recovering from a stomach virus (one is a mother of three, who has the unfortunate luck of having at least one of these run rampant through her household at least once a year, plus she's in nursing school right now, so I can totally understand her hesitance on traveling with me, because if the tables were turned, I'd feel the same way).

On the upside? It means more writing, and I'm planning on making 10K today! 8)

Oh no! Sorry you have to miss your birthday trip! Yes, understandable in case it is infectious. Could they not have put you on the roof rack?

Well done on writing something despite feeling YUCK!

You know, that would've worked. We were going to stay at a Hilton Homewood Suites, so we each had our own bed, and there were two bathrooms, but the one was so nervous about catching it, I just don't blame her. And to be honest, I'm still wiped and not feeling 100%, so it's a good thing we didn't go. That, and we had reservations at a Mexican place for the first night there. *insert smiling poo emoji here* Yeah. It was bad timing but it's a good thing we canceled.

Well there is always more trips! Hope it did not cost much to cancel.

The hotel cost us nothing, but canceling Second City tickets...well, I had to eat the cost of those. $116 Canadian, which is, like, $4 American. ;D

I assume Second City are a band?

Second City is a comedy show. They have basically supplied endless comedians to shows like Whose Line Is It Anyway since the 80s. My cousin worked for their Chicago group, but I never had a chance to see them, and I've always wanted to see them live.

1826 for me today.

I went for a morning bird walk with a group. Excellent time and people are still wondering how I know about California birds but also quite excited about birds they see as very common. One of the leaders then dropped me off at the NaNo offices. So kind. I was going to take the BART. The other leader also told me to email her for another opportunity for birding with a local group next week.

NaNo office visit was cool. They have still to unpack after NoWD and most people were on holiday. I went out with Grant to a Creole place, and we then returned to the office. Excellent day all round!

Whoa, did you get pictures of their offices?! How cool is that? Do you know people there, or do they just let NaNoers come by for a visit? (I don't know who Grant is, obviously.)

I will try to get pictures when I visit on the 30th. I said I would pop in to say hello again. Grant is the Executive Director of NaNoWriMo. He replaced Chris Baty just over 5 years ago.

I think they do allow NaNoers to pop in. Although I gave a heads up beforehand.

I remember Chris Baty but then name Grant escapes me. Hmm. I'm a bad NaNoer!

Looking forward to a giant picture dump from you!!!

Sorting out the bird pictures has distracted me about the NaNoDump. It will happen.
